I won't go into a long description of it but I'll say this; within seconds, it was obvious to me why no-one was visiting this Web site and worse yet, it's likely that no-one ever would because there was vital information missing from every page, information that should have been available to search engines in order for them to categorise the site and make it visible in their listings. There was a horrible mistake with the content of the site which, if the search engines had found it, would possibly have caused it to be banned from their database altogether. In addition to all that, to add insult to injury, the Web site hosting that was thrown in for the price this poor fellow paid came with a set of advertisements down the side of every one of his pages... advertising his competition! It has to also be mentioned, that his competition's Web sites were obviously built by professionals and I know where I'd have ended up spending my money if I'd been a potential customer.

The lesson here is, that a cheap or free Web site may take the pressure off your back pocket at the time it's delivered to you, but it will eventually cost you far more than a site developed by a professional Web designer would have. Not only will there be no mistakes made that will cause your site to be invisible - rendering it utterly pointless - but you will benefit from your developer's knowledge of what takes a good Web site and makes it great. What makes a Web site not only pay for itself in time, but actually continues to enhance the money-making potential of your business way beyond its launch date.
